We are Grace and Jax, a mother and son team, originally from rural Kansas and now located in the metro Detroit area. Jaxson also has two younger siblings Genevieve and Abraham. Jaxson was born with an unknown vascular disease that has resulted in many, many health issues throughout his life. Side by side we have battled through five major abdominal surgeries, paraplegia, a year of chemotherapy, a year of dialysis, and a kidney transplant in which I was blessed enough to become Jaxson's donor. Needless to say we've spent our fair share of time trapped in various hospitals and clinics throughout Jaxson's life. The GREAT news is that in recent years Jaxson's health has improved dramatically. You'll still catch us being hospitalized from time to time and we still have many clinic days throughout the year but it's a cake walk in comparison to years prior. While being in the situations we were in we couldn't help but be confronted by the needs of so many other children and their families and with our new found health and vitality we've created our own non-profit organization Hospital Buddies. We are brand new, just licensed in January 2021, but recently held our first event Hospital Buddies First Annual Toy Drive with a great turn out. The second part of our journey has just begun and we appreciate your support in our endeavor of filling in the gaps of need for many, many more children and families.
